We study the functional neuroanatomy of human memory using fMRI. The image shows the functional segregation of two regions within the human entorhinal cortex. An anterior-lateral region (al-EC) is preferentially responding to images of objects whereas a posterior-medial region (pm-EC) is preferentially responding to scenes. These regions are clinically important because they are affected early on in the course of Alzheimer’s Disease.
