Prof. Lavrik’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern cell fate decisions, particularly within the extrinsic apoptosis pathway mediated by death receptors such as CD95/Fas. Using a combination of state-of-the-art biochemical approaches, in silico modeling, and pharmacological targeting strategies, the group systematically dissects how signaling complexes are formed and regulated. A key aim of their work is to unravel how Life and Death decisions are executed at the CD95/Fas receptor level. In this context, they are especially interested in how posttranslational modifications influence protein interactions, signaling dynamics, and ultimately the balance between cell survival and programmed cell death.
