The goal of the AG CortXplorer is to gain a better understanding of cognitively complex learning and decision processes in laboratory rodents at the level of interacting neuronal circuits of the auditory cortex. We combine behavioral paradigms with chronic in vivo multichannel recording technologies and mathematical tools to study neuronal network activity on a circuit level over long time periods. We then manipulate or interfere neuronal network communication during behaviour by several technical approaches as for instance pharmacology, optogenetics or the controlled weakening of the extracellular matrix in auditory cortex.
